Allow me to introduce myself...
I am a book currently residing in a Special Collections known as Introduction to Botany In a Series of Letters... by Priscilla Wakefield, published in London in 1796. My title is wonderfully descriptive of my subject matter: a sequence of letters from one young lady, Felicia, to her sister Constance on the topic of botany. Specifically, the then-recent development of a system of classification of plants by Carl von Linne (Linnaeus). This exhibition will tell you something of the environment of my publication, how I was crafted into the fine specimen pictured below, where I currently live and how I got to be there. It will be a whirlwind tour through more than 200 years of existence
